Caring for the adult child
The adult child’s eating disorder may have just become evident, or perhaps it is an eating disorder that the adult child has been battling for some time. The adult child may still be living with you, or they may be living away from home; they may be studying at university, or working away. With all things being well this should be a time when the adult child is able to live unsupported but if they are battling an eating disorder they will need informed help, monitoring and support as they learn to manage and live their adult lives.
Suggestions for post topics; Encouraging acceptance of the physical changes of an adult body, raising low self-esteem, eating together, managing family get togethers that involve meals, cutting out major food groups, working with external organisations such as universities, employers, managing and supporting mealtimes supporting them through GP visits, out patient visits and inpatient care.
