Health Services

There are professional bodies who are there to support you, it will be valuable to share your experiences of them to discuss how easy was it to  engage with them. If something has worked for you please share it. Health services include;

  • NHS Once your child is in the care system there are many agencies involved these include GP, Hospitals, Eating Disorder Units, Metal Health Units, funding. It is important to realise that care differs across the country.
  • CAMHS The NHS provision for young people under the age of 18 with mental health issues, this includes the care for those with eating disorders
  • PALS (Patients Advice and Liaison Services) The NHS quailty assurance organisation. If you have a question or a complaint about the NHS service that you have received then you can complain to PALS who will respond to your enquiry and request and inform you of their findings.
  • LEGAL SUPPORT Using advocates, using Mental health lawyers, understanding the children’s act, Royal College of General Practitioners, understanding NICE recommendations (National Institute for Health and Care).
  • FINANCIAL SUPPORT  You may be eligible for carers allowance.

Suggested post topics; G.P’s, blood tests, ECG, meal planning,  camhs, referral for inpatient treatment, inpatient treatment, weight restoration, drugs, therapies, outpatient treatment, aftercare, care in the community, accessing GP support, forming good relationships with health professionals, knowing your rights and entitlements, working with dieticians, requesting the support of PALS, disability benefit, carers allowance.
