About The Site

The aim of eatingdisordersadvice.co.uk is to provide help, support, information and guidance to parents and teachers of young people with eating disorders.

The site’s author – Pooky Knightsmith – is a PhD student at the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London. She is four years into a five year project which aims to support school staff when working with children at risk of, or suffering from eating disorders.

During the course of the project, Pooky has been lucky enough to work with hundreds of young people who are either suffering from or recovering from eating disorders. Almost two thousand teachers and parents have also shared their experiences of teaching or caring for a young person with an eating disorder as part of the project.
