On-going Support

We know that eating disorders are complex illnesses that require on-going emotional and practical support simultaneously. Our services at EDA are based on this approach to care. We know the courage required to make that first step, whether it’s telling somebody about your eating disorder for the first time, booking a doctor’s appointment or asking for some help, and we are here to encourage you and provide support for as long as you require.

Our aims are to:

  • Lessen the sense of isolation and loneliness felt by people struggling with an eating disorder

  • Provide emotional support for people through the different stages of need, for as long as they feel they need help

  • Help those struggling to deal with their emotions and point the way towards restored hope for the future

  • Help those struggling to have greater confidence when dealing with professionals responsible for their treatment

  • Give people a chance to ‘sound out’ any concerns they have about professional care

  • Help support people as they manage meal times and their emotions.

  • Help friends, relatives, schools and other relevant organisations to understand the needs of people struggling with an eating disorder

  • Offer practical suggestions for recovery to help people re-build their lives
